Builds on foundational principles of the primary, acute, and chronic care and explores the scope of practice of PNPs in meeting the specialized needs of children with complex acute, complex chronic, and critical conditions including life-threatening illnesses, trauma, and organ failure. Emphasizes monitoring and ongoing management of intensive therapies in various settings in a collaborative model. Focuses on how acute and critical health needs influence decision-making, treatment, follow-up, and transition of care. Offers of the opportunity to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the unique needs of fragile children, including urban children who are at risk for poor health outcomes. Offers a unique experience that allows exploration of emerging trends and patterns of healthcare practices across the continuum of care.
