Compares and contrasts primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of intervention as they pertain to child welfare systems. Topics include child development, impacts of poverty on development, child maltreatment, educational inequality, disability, play, and community violence. Examines the availability, distribution, effectiveness,and efficiency of universal targeted interventions in the home, school, and community. Offers students an opportunity to study current events, case studies, and documentaries as sources to connect social and psychological theory, research, and promising practices in child development.
