PPUA 5242 — Democracy and Good Governance

Examines whether democracy delivers better governance than alternative systems. Analyzes political accountability mechanisms; applies democracy measurement frameworks; and evaluates regime performance across core government functions including rights protection, public services, crisis response, and security. Utilizes comparative analysis and case studies to offer students an opportunity to develop evidence-based positions on democracy's capacity to serve diverse societies.
