Introduces the nature and significant trends of the nonprofit sector, both in the United States and internationally. Aims to deepen student understanding of the nonprofit world and its organizations, looking at the intersection between managerial practices, policy decisions, and leadership. Offers students an opportunity to identify and interpret critical issues and challenges of sustainability experienced by stakeholders of the nonprofit world and consider their implications for managerial practice. Discusses the role of governing boards—details the role of board legal fiduciary responsibilities, board development, and ongoing management.
