Focuses on developing active listening skills by engaging students in auditioning, analyzing, and discussing a wide range of commercial and popular music productions across diverse genres. Traditional technical ear training techniques are augmented by the use of contemporary digital audio analysis tools such as spectrographs, metering, and AI-driven FFT tools. Covers fidelity, audio reproduction, playback systems, and the impact of streaming and physical media from the perspectives of producers and consumers. Weekly assignments offer students an opportunity to develop critical listening skills and technical vocabulary for evaluating professional music productions.
