ME 4690 — Fundamentals of High-Performance Road Vehicle Dynamics
4 semester hoursUndergraduateLecture
Introduces fundamental principles of high-performance road vehicle dynamics, specifically cars and motorcycles, primarily through steady-state kinematic analysis of vehicle geometry, motions, and interactions with the road and surrounding air. Topics include tires, basic vehicle geometry, acceleration and braking, cornering stability, longitudinal and lateral weight transfer, suspension, aerodynamics, and some basic driving/riding racing fundamentals.
