MATH 7980 — Capstone: Applications of Statistics and Modeling

1–4 semester hoursGraduateLecture

Offers students an opportunity to complete a project to attack real-world problems. Students may propose their own projects or select a project from industry sponsors. Starting from processing and analyzing actual raw data to applying machine learning, statistical learning, mathematical modeling, and computational methods, students produce an end-to-end solution to a complex real-world problem. Emphasizes practicing data processing, mathematical modeling, and applying statistical methods, as well as improving writing, oral presentation, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills. Project content determined in consultation with instructor.
