Focuses each semester on a specific topic in podcast production, e.g. reporting a first-person narrative, perfecting the art of the interview, producing an audio documentary, building a daily news show or creating an influencer chatcast. Course topics explore podcast industry trends and innovations in storytelling. Informed by close listening, critical readings, instructor and guest lectures, class discussions and hands-on production work, students have the opportunity to develop and produce original podcasts. Emphasis is placed on practicing skills and strategies for both self-directed and collaborative podcast production, including experimentation, planning, iteration, revision, and critique of creative work. May be repeated twice for a maximum of 12 semester hours.
