Focuses each semester on a specific topic that is of timely relevance to journalists covering foreign affairs. Explores methods and challenges of reporting on global politics and culture, drawing on instructor expertise. Informed by current events, historical case studies, critical readings, instructor and guest lectures, and class discussions, students design original research and reporting projects in response to the course topic. Emphasizes developing skills and strategies for covering international stories, including self-directed and collaborative work in all aspects of conceiving, planning, and producing in-depth multimedia global journalism. May be repeated twice.
