FINA 6439 — Quantitative Portfolio Management

Introduces portfolio management with a focus on quantitative methods. Major topics include the construction, rebalancing, and performance measurement of active equity portfolios. Examines portfolio construction using constrained mean-variance optimization, as well as performance evaluation using multi-factor models of risk such as the Fama-French three-factor model. Additional topics include the effects of diversification on risk reduction, transaction cost management, and style attribution. Also covers quantitative approaches to manage specific sources of risk. Course is applied and MATLAB based, and students employ historical data to backtest and assess the performance of various portfolio strategies.
