4 semester hoursUndergraduateLecturetypical days: M/W/ThBostonTraditional

Uses UNESCO’s Seven Principles of Ocean Literacy to explore how scientific and technological understandings of the ocean inform cultural production—including novels, films, maps, and philosophy—and intersect with gender, race, and class. Offers students an opportunity to deepen understandings of key topics in marine science, develop skills in cultural and historical analysis, and collaborate with an external partner on a science and storytelling project.
