Covers the emergence of augmented/virtual/mixed reality systems, broadly referred to as extended reality (XR), and the shift on the Internet to support shared experiences online. Covers hardware and software topics central to networked XR systems, including content capture, streaming, and display. Exposes students to some of the key tools required to digitize, optimize, render, control, and visualize content. Features hands-on assignments based on networked 3D cameras, XR headsets and browsers, telepresence applications, etc., as well as lectures spanning the ecosystem of topics central to networked XR systems. Connects all of these components to complete the cycle from reality to digital reality and back.
