Examines advanced experimental techniques in modern systems and synthetic bioengineering for designing, building, testing, and refining biological systems. Applies engineering principles to construct biological systems inspired by bacteria, plants, and animals. Introduces foundational methods including genetic library creation and screening, protein expression and purification, spectroscopy, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and behavioral studies of learning and memory. Focuses on the application and analysis of these techniques in developing biological systems from the ground up.
