Introduces the audiological information necessary to conduct aural habilitation and rehabilitation services for patients of all ages relevant to the scope of practice for speech-language pathologists. Introduces topics such as the identification, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of hearing loss and the associated communication challenges. Offers students an opportunity to learn how to manage hearing loss including an overview of amplification, assistive listening devices, environmental modifications, lip/speech reading techniques, advocacy strategies, teaching strategies, and school/work accommodations.
