Examines how the effects of artificial intelligence permeate all aspects of life and impact world politics. Explores the implications of AI uses and their impacts in different areas of international relations driven by profound transformations: great power rivalry, challenges posed to global cooperation, provision of humanitarian assistance, achieving the United Nations sustainable development goals, and using AI in the military and warfare. Introduces and assesses AI policies adopted by states and engages with AI’s application at multiple societal levels, uncovering the ethical, moral, and international legal implications. Considers how technological developments are outpacing diplomatic negotiations, highlighting how global institutional changes can prevent unethical and unlawful uses as pathways to peace and security in the contemporary world order.
