Examines issues in caring for pediatric patients and their families at risk for poor health outcomes utilizing the framework of the Healthy People Indicators. Explores emerging trends of healthcare practices in high-risk settings across the continuum of care and within its social and environmental context by integrating this unique, collaborative experience. Offers mentoring to consider current issues inherent in caring for underserved populations through the utilization of innovative strategies. Focuses on delivery of care to families and children in the community, which could pose challenges to nurse practitioners, including the need to gain new knowledge, develop nonbiased attitudes, and master skills and competencies to address health promotion and prevention needs.
