Offers students an opportunity to obtain a thorough grounding in the history of the music industry. Following intensive study of the electronic and print tools available to those interested in researching the music industry, the course initiates historical work in the 19th century, when many aspects of the modern music industry took root and blossomed. The remainder of the course is organized around topics drawn from the 20th and 21st centuries including record companies and marketing, television and the music industry, and the internet and the music industry. Each unit is accompanied by the most recent and cutting-edge research in the field.
