MUSC 1922 — Open Microphone Performance Workshop

Offers students who sing and/or play an instrument a supportive environment where they have an opportunity to learn performance skills that promote confidence, strong presentation, and meaningful communication with audiences. Students practice strategies for overcoming stage fright and honing musical skills. Examines key aspects of performance such as use of eye contact, movement on stage, solutions to forgetting words/music, various venue circumstances, personal expression, proper microphone technique, and communication with larger and smaller audiences. Students apply these techniques in weekly in-class exercises, regular performances, a final concert, at local open mic nights, and experimenting with virtual reality headsets.
