Focuses on U.S. law as it has evolved since passage of the Refugee Act of 1980. Analyzes administrative and judicial case law from the United States and compares relevant international law and standards in other countries. Examines the administrative adjudication system with attention to issues including due process, cross-cultural communication, and trauma-informed lawyering. Discusses policy developments that impact asylum seekers in the United States.
