Studies literature by Native American authors in the United States. Examines debates in critical Indigenous studies, focusing on the literary forms and Indigenous methods deployed by poets and writers to examine tribal sovereignty, settler colonialism, and the histories and presence of anticolonial movements. Emphasizes the ways contemporary American Indian writers use traditional and contemporary forms to express and affirm tribal language, memory, community, and knowledge while forging literary resistance to ongoing effects of settler colonialism.
