DANC 2030 — Rhythm in Sound and Movement

Addresses the relationships between rhythm in music and in dance movement. Offers students an opportunity to acquire a basic familiarity with musical notation as an analytical and descriptive tool. Precise technical standards for clarity of rhythmic expression, as well as an array of compositional and improvisational methodologies for rhythmic invention in sound and movement, contribute to the development of heightened rhythmic sensibilities. Cultivates sharpened listening skills and habits, designed to apply to a wide variety of artistic roles and endeavors, through study of the rhythmic features of music of diverse styles, eras, and cultures.
