Examines elementary dance principles by studying the specific discipline of classical ballet. Introduces instruction of simple movement sequences strategically to challenge and increase students’ knowledge of form and musical phrasing. Focuses on the study of postural alignment and French ballet terminology, both in its written and physical form. Incorporates an introduction of social and historical aspects of the discipline to inform and enrich the physical study of ballet. May be repeated twice.
