CY 4775 — Applied Cryptography

Provides an introduction to cryptography and its safe and efficient use in practical settings. Covers the fundamental principles of provable security properties of cryptographic primitives and the models used for reasoning about security. Provides in-depth coverage of important cryptographic primitives such as encryption, message authentication codes, hash functions, random number generation, and digital signatures. Balances proofs of security with hands-on development using established software libraries, enabling students to parameterize and use cryptographic primitives for computational and communication efficiency while retaining security guarantees.
