Offers students an opportunity to develop advanced skills in biochemical analysis by studying selected topics beyond the introductory level. Emphasizes critical evaluation of primary literature, the creation of molecular visualizations and structural analyses using computational tools, and engagement with current research questions. Content varies by semester and may focus on areas such as protein structure–function relationships, metabolic pathways and disorders, molecular mechanisms of disease, biotechnology methods, or other contemporary topics. Provides experience in interpreting experimental approaches, generating and presenting molecular models, and synthesizing information from multiple sources. May be repeated twice.
