ARTS 2000 — Topics in Studio Art

Presents studio arts topics in an introductory undergraduate studio course supporting work in all studio arts disciplines. Covers current discourse in the field and draws upon instructor expertise. Informed by critical readings, instructor and guest lectures, examination of other artists' works, and class discussions, offers students an opportunity to develop original creative projects in response to the topic. Emphasizes developing skills and strategies for studio arts production including research, experimentation, planning, iteration, revision, and critique of conceptually driven creative work. Explores the media in-depth─focusing on the connection between form and content─through hands-on in-class work, demonstrations, homework, and long-term projects.
