ARTG 4222 — Techniques for Data Visualization

Presents computational methods for creating intricate data visualizations through ludic simulations. Implements computational simulations of bodies, particle systems, and natural systems inspired by the behavior of natural systems such as ant colonies, flocking birds, and slime mold behavior. Employs a hands-on learning approach in which students build visualizations from the ground up using these techniques. Introduces fundamental principles of data visualization and applies those principles to specific datasets. Covers essential programming concepts including functions, class instantiation, and the use of arrays and array lists.
